The Zieltal Valley Sheep Drive
The end of the summer pasture season is just around the corner, and so it's time for all the four-legged friends to return to the valley before the first snow covers the peaks again. For this occasion, a large festival is held at the Nasereith (Nassereto) Mountain Hut in the Zieltal valley. Many visitors are expected, all eager to witness the spectacle of the arriving sheep. 1,600 sheep are accompanied home by the shepherds to be shorn in the valley and returned to their owners, accompanied by traditional dishes, 'Krapfen' pastries, and products made from the precious sheep's wool.
