Ancient Larch Trees in Val d’Ultimo
The past is still alive: a fascinating journey takes us to the ancient larches of Santa Gertrude, in Val d'Ultimo. At an altitude of 1,430 metres stand three impressive larches, considered among the oldest conifers in Europe. Their age is estimated at around 850 years, silent witnesses to the centuries that have passed. But it is not just their venerable age that makes this place magical: in the woods surrounding the larches, legends linger of wild men and Salighe. Myths and tales intertwine with nature, in an atmosphere where time seems to have stood still.
