Waalweg paths in Val Venosta

9:28 min. - 20,603 total views since 25 August 2014

What today seems to be rather romantic or idyllic, originally was hard work, struggle and system. When in 1930 the first irrigation plant was built in Bolzano, the irrigation canals were left standing, their decay started. We walked one of the Waalweg paths in Val Venosta and came to know and appreciate these precious cultural assets thanks to an expert and a farmer, who still uses the original methods to irrigate his fields.
