The irrigation canals of Morter

As early as 2000 years ago, human ingenuity produced a solution to the long periods of drought in the Venosta Valley, the westernmost valley in South Tyrol. This is how the Waale irrigation canals were born, a 600 km long irrigation network that was once only walked by the Waalers. Today they are popular hiking trails for all seasons, combining nature, art and culture. Come with us and explore the irrigation canals of Morter at the entrance to the Martello Valley.
