Castel Presule

Castel Presule, first mentioned during the Middle Ages in 1279, was also known during those times as Castrum Presile. Built by the lords of Fiè and the bishops of Bressanone, the castle served over the centuries as an ancestral home and place of retreat. The most famous offspring of this family is Leonhard von Völs-Colonna, who expanded the fort during the late Gothic and Rennaisance eras into the castle seen today. Castel Presule is open from May 1st until October 31st with guided tours available.
