Underway on the Salto high plateau, Europe‘s largest larch meadow. It gets its name from the Latin word „Saltus“, meaning the valley of forests or pasture. The name fits this place perfectly, with its wonderful sunny terrace and home to the villages of Avelengo, Verano, Meltina and San Genesio. Whoever travels through these meadows may encounter mythological creatures and with a bit of luck, discover why this mountain has such a strange name: The „Tschögglberg“ mountain.
